Instructors



Melissa Connor, PhD

Director, Forensic Science Program,
Nebraska Wesleyan University

Dr. Connor has 30 years of archaeological experience, and has worked in forensics for the last 10 years. Dr. Connor has exhumed human remains throughout the former Yugoslavia, and in Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Cyprus, Nigeria and, in 2004, Iraq. She teaches Forensic Archaeology and Forensic Anthropology.
 


Jeri Myers, MA

Forensic Science Program,
Nebraska Wesleyan University

Jeri Myers has worked with the forensic science program since its inception, first at Southeast Community College and, since 1999, at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She has a master's degree in Anthropology, having worked with the forensic pathologists on cases involving identification of skeletal remains. She has been registered with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators since 2001, and is a registered medicolegal death investigator. Ms. Myers coordinates the first year graduate classes and the certificate program. She teaches Forensic Anthropology.
 


Douglas D. Scott, PhD

National Park Service (Emeritus)
and Nebraska Wesleyan University

Dr. Scott retired from the National Park Service with over 30 years of service with the Department of the Interior. He is an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Anthropology and Geography, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and with the Forensic Science Program at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He is particularly noted for his expertise in battlefield archaeology and firearms identification. He was awarded the Department of the Interior's Distinguished Service Award in 2002 for his innovative research in battlefield archaeology that started with his work at the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. Dr. Scott currently serves as President of the Society for Historical Archaeology.

Courtney Butikofer
Tallahassee, Florida

Courtney Butikofer is a senior studying anthropology at Florida State University. She's been interested in Egyptian history since she was about 8 years old, which is what got her interested in archaeology. Now she is looking to expand her studies of anthropology.
 


BJ Bullock
Columbus, Ohio

BJ Bullock is a 3rd year anthropology major, also minoring in classics.  He loves listening to and playing music, and is a member of the Ohio State University Marching Band.  He also loves movies, playing sports, and Led Zeppelin.
 


Jaclyn Green-Stock

Airmont, New York

Jaclyn Green-Stock is a sophomore at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She is double-majoring in Geography and International Development & Social Change. Ms. Green-Stock is also part of the International Studies Stream, which is a track at Clark that gives students the opportunity to take classes with an international focus. She enjoys traveling, singing, reading and summer.
 


Kate Kitowski
Palatine, Illinois

Kate recently graduated Beloit College in Wisconsin with a BA in Anthropology and hopes to continue on to study Forensic Anthropology in graduate school.  After spending a semester abroad in Cork, Ireland, Kate hopes to someday work internationally as a Forensic Anthropologist.
 


Jennifer Ledford
Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Jen Ledford attends Middle Tennessee State University, where she is a senior majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Archaeology and Biology. She wants to continue studying forensics to hopefully one day become a forensic anthropologist.

Anthony Pohl

Sacramento, California

Anthony Pohl (shown here in an ill-fated attempt to excavate his own dining room) is a senior at Sacramento State University, majoring in Anthropology. He has done some archaeological fieldwork in Arizona and Northern California.
 


Jackie Rector
Kirkwood, Missouri

Jackie Rector is from St. Louis, Missouri.....Kirkwood to be more specific. She is entering her fourth year at the University of Missouri-Columbia where she is a double major in Anthropology and Sociology. Her interests include camping, photography, and skiing (water and
snow).

 


Cara-Lynn Vealey

Charlotte, Michigan

Cara-Lynn Vealey recieved her Bachelors in Anthropology and Museum Studies from Central Michigan University.  She is currently attending Western Michigan University for her Masters in Anthropology.  Her concentration in her studies is physical/biological anthropology.  She loves to travel and has been fortunate enough to have visited nine countries in Europe, along with Mexico, Canada and China.
 


Gina Vega
San Diego, California

Gina Vega was raised in Arizona, and had always hated it there, and wanted to move to California since she was about 5 years old. She is a grad student at National University in gorgeous San Diego, CA obtaining a MFS-Masters of Forensic Science. She graduated with her BA in Classics and Anthropology from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and has been out in the field abroad, and at home. She's been to the Middle East, Western Europe, Asia, and a few places in-between.
