Improv at the Qui.
Team 1: Cherrelle,
Scott and Kamara
Scott’s day was
ok. He had a rough morning and he burned his back when he was
snorkeling. Cherrelle had an ok day. She was annoyed that the reef was
so shallow. She couldn’t kick her legs freely. She kept trying to get
a picture of the Parrotfish but it was too busy trying to swim away.
Kamara’s day was ok, she was also thinking a lot. She also got into the
water without a floaty vest. She saw a parrotfish. It was so pretty.
We went to the Marine Mammal Sanctuary to see the dolphins too. We saw
a deaf dolphin, which Scott thought, was pretty cool. I though tit was
kind of cool too, but I didn’t want to see a sick, gassy dolphin
floating around. Cherrelle liked the flipping dolphins. We are
presenting a skit at 8 pm so that will be hilarious.

Our first
destination was a very shallow coral reef. There was not a high
concentration of fish there because the reef covered a fairly large
area. When we were snorkeling we noticed a pretty big French
Angelfish. There was a lot of fan coral and small patches of sand
between coral formations. In the sand we also saw a marine centipede of
some sort. Later we went back to Tom’s Wreck again to snorkel. One of
the first things we saw there when we jumped in was small barracuda
swimming above the sea grass. When we were about to get out we found a
tickle stick, probably lost by a lobster fisher. Then we saw a very
large lobster that we got to come out from under the rocks. In the
afternoon we went to Dolphin’s Plus to learn about dolphins and how they
take care of things. We got to see the shows and tricks and a dolphin
called Castaway. Tomorrow we will all pack up and travel home. Overall
we have enjoyed this experience and discovered a lot along the way.

K. and Nick R.
Weather: Humid,
rained 12-1 pm
Visibility: 1st
8ft /2nd 12ft
Water
conditions: fairly calm
Today we went to
2 sites to snorkel. The first site we went to was Cary’s Fort South.
The water here was very shallow. We didn’t see any large schools of
fish here, just mostly baby fish in small groups. The second site we
went to was Captains Tom’s Wreck. We stayed here for longer and saw a
large school of Sergeant Majors. This wreck was mostly intact and that
made it cool to dive down and look around. Some arts of the wreck have
fallen apart or drifted away so you could dive down and look at all the
fish inside the wreck. When people started going back to the boat we
swam out and looked at the parts of the ship that had drifted away.
Ronny, Tymar and Oliver found a tickle stick and were playing around
with it underwater. We saw a beer bottle about 30 ft away from the
wreck covered in sea grass. Our afternoon activity was at Dolphin
Plus. There were dolphins and sea lions. The reason we couldn’t go
yesterday was because one of the dolphins had given birth, unfortunately
the calf had died.

Today we went to
Carysfort and Captain Tom’s wreck again. The part we visited at
Carysfort was really shallow. It was a perfect place for baby fishies.
Then we saw the same things at the wreck. In the afternoon we saw
dolphins. We heard a lot about them and one in particular. Its name
was Castaway. The dolphin was deaf and had been stranded. It also was
pregnant. Now she is at dolphins Plus. Since she is deaf they use
lights to get her to come eat and other things. They also keep her with
some yellow snappers to occupy her. Apparently she dislikes them and
will “yell” at them. Now we are making skits for tonight.
