Wednesday, July 18
Today, we went to Metro, and we
met and interviewed Captain Rose, Professor Betsinger, and Mr. Browning.
Captain Rose was a police officer. Professor Betsinger was a forensic
drug chemist. Mr. Browning was a prosecutor. We had the chance to ask
them a variety of questions about their professions.
We then saw a slideshow made by
Captain Rose on bullets, guns, and ballistics. After free time and
dinner we watched CSI Las Vegas and Bones – we found many
faults in the plots. In all the day was very educational and
interesting.
Monday, July 23
Today we finished uncovering and
examining our “homicide victims” (Halloween plastic skeletons). While
excavating our victims, we had to graph the dirt, vegetation, all
evidence, the depth, and the bodies. After exhuming the bodies we
examined the clothes and skeleton. With the help of our wonderful
counselors, we were able to determine possible cause of death. The press
also came and visited us. A lucky few were interviewed and the press
told we were going to be on the news. Even after the that exhausting day
some of us were even up to a soccer game.
