Amanda Alvarez
Ohio

Amanda Alvarez is a student at Ohio State University studying Anthropological Science with a minor in Forensic Science and Molecular Genetics. She aspires to become a forensic pathologist or forensic and medical anthropologist. She enjoys learning and the new experiences that come with them. She has held student internships at the OSU Medical Center Morgue and at the James Care Hope's Boutique in Dublin, Ohio. She also belongs to a diversity of student organizations inside the university and outside.
 

 
Emily Beach
Bexley, Ohio

Emily Beach is a
third-year OSU student. Although her official majors are the Classical Humanities and French, she has a great affinity for Physical Anthropology. She spends much of her time working. During the winter and early spring, she directs a youth musical for about 50 teenagers at Bexley United Methodist Church. She is a former member of the OSU Choir. Emily says she is fascinated by the scientific processes used to investigate crimes, and wants to experience this process as closely as possible. She hopes to leave this program with a deeper understanding of exactly what goes into a forensic investigation.
 

 
Adam Beeler
Columbus, Ohio

Adam Beeler is a Physical Anthropology major at OSU. His academic focus is in the analysis of human skeletal remains. He enjoys studying skeletal taphonomy and the process of bone remodeling, as well as the effects of diet and occupation on the skeleton. He has been a glass blower for the past 12 years. He is currently an assistant to several glass artists in Columbus. His interest in glass art has provided many unique opportunities and experiences, such as blowing glass in Venice, Italy and the Czech Republic. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1999, with over 50 merit badges. He hopes to gain experience excavating and processing human skeletal or physical remains, and believes this course will give him important and practical skills for a career in Anthropology.
 

 
Jennifer Burns
Pataskala, Ohio
Jennifer Burns has taken forensic and anthropology classes at Ohio State, and also forensic classes at
Central Ohio Technical College in Newark. She enjoys spending time with her kids, going to hockey games, and listening to music. Jennifer is looking forward to this course to help her in identifying bones and feeling comfortable testifying in court.
 

 
Samantha Cole
Toledo, Ohio

Samantha Cole has taken numerous courses in Archaeology and Anthropology, including an introductory course at
 the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.  She also had the opportunity to shadowe a coroner at the Wayne County Coroner’s Office in Detroit, Michigan. She is looking forward to this course to expand on her previous experience at the coroner’s office, and to learn more about the whole scope of crime scene investigation and presentation.
 

 
James Davenport
Powell, Ohio / New Orleans, Louisiana

James Davenport is a sophomore Anthropology major with a focus in Archaeology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood. Archaeology is a particular interest of his, particularly in Mesoamerica. His main area of interest is Mesoamerican Epigraphy and the correlations in that subject between cultures that are separated both geographically and by time. He enjoys the outdoors and activities such as hiking and camping. He hopes to gain practical experience in Forensic Anthropology, both in methods of excavation and applicable knowledge from real life experience as opposed to strictly theories. James also hopes to gain a knowledge of methods used for presentation of findings, as well as logistics for proper recording and documentation.
 

 
Elizabeth Dubitzky
Brookline, Massachusetts

Elizabeth Dubitzky worked for the Victim/Witness Advocate of the District Attorney's Office in her home county in Massachusetts, and volunteered in the Community Services Department of the Newton, Massachusetts Police Department. She has completed courses in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Intro. to Intelligence, and Physical Anthropology. She is looking forward to this course to give her more experience to guide her focus in a future career in forensic work.
 

 
Ashlee Elfrink
West Jefferson, Ohio

Ashlee Elfrink is a senior at OSU, majoring in Anthropology with a minoring in Forensic Science. She worked as a lifeguard for four years, and has extensive CPR and lifesaving technique training. Her previous experience includes going to Greece in the summer of 2005 to visit sites including the Acropolis and the palace of Knossos. She also volunteered for the Ohio Historical Society at the Piqua site, surveying the area. Ashlee's  hobbies include  reading, drawing and hanging out with my friends. She also likes to do things such as rollerblading, boating, skiing and yoga.
 

 
Allison Henry
London, Ohio

Allison Henry is a third-year student
majoring in Anthropological Sciences and minoring in Forensic Science. She is Vice President of the Undergraduate Anthropology Club, and a member of the OSU Crew Club. Her interests include hiking and camping, refinishing antiques, reading, and rowing. She is hoping this class will provide good, hands-on training in the methods of forensic archaeology and experience working through crime scenes and court situations.
 

 
Kelly Jackson
Conneaut, Ohio
Kelly Jackson has taken several previous courses in Anthropology and Archaeology. Kelly is a fan of television shows like CSI, Quincy and Forensic Files.
 

 
Ryauna Jelks
Ohio

Ryauna Jelks is a fourth year student at the Ohio State University with a concentration in Anthropology and a minor in forensics, with an expected graduation date for fall quarter of 2007. She loves forensics and has a great eye for detail. She has taken several classes with Dr. Stout previously, and is looking forward to working with Ms. Angel.

 

 
Nicole Keeling
Canfield, Ohio

Nicole Keeling has taken several courses in Anthropology, and is particularly interested in forensics investigation as a career. She had the opportunity to tour the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation in Bowling Green. Nicole plays intramural softball at OSU and reads a lot of true crime books.
 

 
Katelyn Leahy
North Olmsted, Ohio
Katelyn Leahy is a senior at Ohio State University, majoring in Biology and Criminology. She has wanted to pursue a career in forensics since her years in middle school. As a freshman in college she started as a criminology major and found that she actually missed her science classes. As a result, she started her biology major in her second year at OSU. From that year until now, she has taken class every quarter, including summers, to complete her undergraduate work and pursue graduate studies in forensic science. She enjoys running, tennis, soccer, music, and research in almost any scientific field. She hopes to get a hands-on experience from this field school, and thinks it is a unique opportunity to learn the techniques and methods of forensics outside of a textbook.

 

 
Kate McGuire
New Concord, Ohio

Kate McGuire is an Anthropology major at Kenton College, who hopes to go on to graduate school in Geology. Her interest in Archaeology began when, as a kid, she took a class in fossil excavation at Dawes Arboretum. Her interests include
collecting rocks, watching and making movies, gardening and traveling.
 

 
Colin Parkman
Ohio

Colin Parkman is an Anthropology major at Ohio State. He wants to one day to become a bio-archaeologist, using skeletal remains to help re-create ancient battle sites.
 

 
Helen Rodgers
Springboro, Ohio
Helen Rodgers is a Junior at OSU, a full-time student during the regular school year and works at an amusement park during the summer. Appropriately, she enjoys roller coasters. She has taken Cultural Anthropology and Intro to Physical Anthropology at OSU, and is looking forward to this project to learn about the basic processes that Forensic Archaeologists practice on a regular basis.
 

 
Naruphol Wangthongchaicharoen
Thailand
Naruphol Wangthongchaicharoen is a Thai archaeologist interested in physical Anthropology. He is currently working as a research assistant on a physical anthropology project at the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Center, and studying
prehistoric archaeology in the Graduate School at Silpakorn University.
 

 
Krista Winger
Columbus, Ohio

Krista Winger is a S
enior at Ohio State University, currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Anthropological Science. She also works full-time for OSU's College of Arts and Sciences in the Academic Advising office. She is interested in continuing on to graduate school in either Anthropology or some other related field. She describes herself a "nerd," with "some serious nerd credentials." She watches all kinds of sci-fi and, of course, Star Trek. She loves bugs and everything that has to do with bugs. She found that she could obtain the necessary academic credit with other courses, but chose this one because working in the field with real scenarios will be a new and exciting experience.
