Professor Angel modeling
how handcuffs work care of Officer Cunningham.
We all met at Metro High School at
8:30 and began introducing ourselves to each other around 9:15 once all
the administrative work had been done. Professor Angel, our project
director, split us up into our teams, introduced the assistant teachers
in the room and introduced officer Cunningham, our first speaker.
Officer Cunningham had prepared a presentation all about crime scene
investigation and police work. This included how to manage a crime
scene to preserve as much evidence as possible.
Upon returning from lunch we went
straight into a mapping activity where we plotted a desk onto a piece of
graph paper relative to a room. The hardest part of the mapping
activity was using the data we collected proportionally on the graph.
After our mapping activity, Professor Angel gave us a lecture on
photography and how to manually adjust a camera to focus on important
areas of your subject. During the lecture professor Angel showed us
pictures that she had taken of crime scene that helped us understand why
it was so important to focus your attention on certain areas. She also
showed us how she had used extra flash guns to lighten up areas in
crucial places.
The most challenging activity was
definitely the mapping activity. The most fun part of the day was
probably officer Cunningham’s presentation, especially the question and
answer time, where we asked him lots of questions about being as police
officer and the equipment he has to carry.
