Forensics in the Classroom
partners the legend of Indiana Jones with television’s popular Gil
Grissom. Students learn what real forensic scientists do to assist in
solving crimes. Forensics in the Classroom allows middle and
high school science teachers in partnership with local professionals to
teach real forensic science in classroom settings.
Forensic science is the application of the scientific techniques and
investigative method to the law.
Forensic science incorporates chemistry, biology, physics and earth
sciences, delivering important skills and knowledge through the exciting
hands-on process of solving a crime.

The program applies forensic science through lecture and
hands-on experience -- in the classroom, outdoors in excavations, and in
the lab. Working across school science curricula forensic science
includes physics, environmental science, biology, chemistry and applied
mathematics. Participants learn about forensic science, meet forensic
professionals, learn how to use proper field and lab techniques to
investigate crimes, prepare written analysis and reports of scientific
data, and learn to present evidence in a moot court.
