We all got up early today because we
wanted to be on the nine o’clock ferry for Mackinac. Driving up there we
worked on our presentation in the car and then we worked on it sitting
in the van until the ferry left. At Mackinac we immediately began to
walk up to the fort. At the fort we watched a reenactment of a rifle
firing and a court marshal. In between the rifle firing and the court
marshal we watched a cannon firing demonstration. Lupe participated in
the firing with the soldiers. When the court marshal was over we toured
around the fort on our own. Something really cool that we saw inside of
the fort was the hospital. A project was set up inside of the hospital
that played a video that contained the notes of a Doctor that worked
inside of the fort. There was a comparison of what happened in terms of
disease during that time period and then a nurse from modern times
explained what would have happened to the victims if they had the
technology then that we have now. When we had finished touring the fort
we had free time until two thirty to explore Mackinac. We drove back to
the campsite to work on our presentations after we arrived back on the
mainland so we could continue working on our presentations. We worked
until dinner and then we presented at seven. All of the group’s
presentations went really well. When everyone was done we did our
evening activities, cleaned up the study room, and then headed to bed.
