Working the data.

Team 1
Lya, Kristine, Antonio & Colin

Today our group split up. Lya went to the library to research. She got some photographs scanned in to use for the marker. She also got a map of the mapping area. Kristine went back along the shoreline to do some mapping and measuring. She also did some pacing. Antonio did GPS until it broke. Colin did some mapping.

When we came back at around 1:00 we went to the study and started wrapping up loose ends.

Team 3

Cassie, Achal, Eric & Ahmed

Today our group was organizers. We had to get up early today to maker sure that everyone was doing their work and packing up all of their stuff that would be needed at Bell today. We split our group into two smaller groups. Achal went to the library and the rest of the group went back to Bell to help finish up. Cassie went with Shane to collect GPS coordinates around Bell. The coordinates had to be recorded so anyone could reference our maps and notes in the future easily. Also, if we were to come back for further research we would be able to quickly go back to our site ad begin working. Ahmed and Eric went to finish mapping up the wall structure at the general store with the rest of the students that came back to Bell. When we had finished here we collected all of the flags from the site we went back to the vans to eat lunch and then drove back to meet the students that had gone to the library. We met up and drove back to the campsite. At the campsite we compiled everything that we worked on at Bell for the past three days. This included drawing a final map for the base site, drawing hasher lines, incorporating all our collected data into our slide show presentation, GPS coordinates of: artifacts baselines and clearings, and creating our historic marker. At four thirty we all took a break and went to the waterfall to swim. At six we drove back to the campsite and had dinner.

Reviewing presentations.

After dinner we had about two hours to work on our presentations and then at ten all of the groups got up to present their presentation for the first time. This was to help us for tomorrow because Anne gave comments and suggestions. This was very helpful for everyone because we have never given a formal presentation about an archeological project that we had done.

Team 4
Guadalupe, Sydney, Shane & Joseph

Today we had an early start; Being K.P. and then leaving the camp site 30 minutes early at 7:00 a.m. We went to Bell Village to finish mapping. Our group split up. Joseph, Sydney and Guadalupe helped map. We finished mapping where the general store was. Shane went to help another group take a GPS reading of the different sites.

After we completed mapping the site we had lunch. Two of our group members ate at the beach and the other two ate at the van. When we finished eating we returned to the campsite and put all our maps together. Guadalupe worked on tracing the final map and our editing historical marker.  Joseph used his drawing skills to draw detailed pictures of the bigger items found at Bell Village.  Shane worked on making the map of Bell village and transferring it onto a computer. Sydney worked hard on labeling all the pictures.

We then went swimming, and there was a small waterfall. We enjoyed ourselves for about an hour and then returned to the campsite to eat our dinner. After dinner we went back to work. We completed our 3 paragraphs for our historical marker and ran through our practice presentation. While making the paragraphs Anne told us to “make it sexy!”

"Well, go back and measure it again."
