Description:
Twenty
students will explore the cultural and natural landscapes of the Little
Miami River. The students will travel by canoe down the river, camping
along the way. Traveling on the river students will chart the various
natural resources and the impact that humans have upon the landscape.
The program explores biology, horticulture,
geology and hydrology working across subject areas in building an
understanding of the environment around us. Students will participate
in the study producing and publishing their results online.
Restrictions: Open to students
entering the 9th and 10th grades. The River Speaks will involve moderate
levels of physical activity including canoeing and hiking.
Credit:
The
program is intended to provide each participating student with 40 hours
of physical fitness, high school credit toward the 120 hours curricular
goal.

Application for the
2008 The River Speaks! Program is a two-step process.
1. Submit your
online registration here.
2. You will be
contacted by the PAST Foundation once scholarship availability is
determined. Payment arrangements can be made at that time. A place in
the program cannot be fully reserved until payment is received. Refunds
for cancellations will be available up to 30 days before the first day
of the program, less a $75 cancellation fee.
