Art Ireland
Archeologist, National Park Service

Art Ireland has been in Federal service for 30 years, 22 of which have been with the National Park Service.  By academic training he is a terrestrial archeologist and by on-the-job training a surveyor and a remote sensing specialist whose specialty is aerial photography analysis.  The latter areas of expertise have led him to work with the Submerged Resources Center since 1986 on projects in Cape Cod, Fire Island, and Padre Island National Seashores, Ellis Island and Liberty Island National Monuments, Gateway National Recreation Area, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas National Parks, Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve (USVI), and the USS Arizona Memorial.

He has worked throughout the US Southwest for the National Park Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs and on the Big Island of Hawaii for the University of Hawaii and in southern Wisconsin for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
