Art Ireland has been in
Federal service for 30 years, 22 of which have been with the National
Park Service. By academic training he is a terrestrial archeologist and
by on-the-job training a surveyor and a remote sensing specialist whose
specialty is aerial photography analysis. The latter areas of expertise
have led him to work with the Submerged Resources Center since 1986 on
projects in
Cape Cod,
Fire Island, and
Padre Island National Seashores,
Ellis Island and Liberty Island National Monuments,
Gateway National Recreation Area,
Biscayne and
Dry Tortugas National Parks,
Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve (USVI),
and the USS Arizona Memorial.
He has worked
throughout the US Southwest for the National Park Service and the Bureau
of Indian Affairs and on the Big Island of Hawaii for the University of
Hawaii and in southern Wisconsin for the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
