Department of Defense Legacy Resources Management Fund
The Department of Defense's Legacy Resources Management Fund has provided funding for the USS Arizona Preservation Project since 2002.

NOAA Marine Sanctuaries Program
The mission of NOAA's National Marine Sanctuary Program is to serve as the trustee for the nation's system of marine protected areas, to conserve, protect, and enhance their biodiversity, ecological integrity and cultural legacy. Its goals are appropriate to the unique diversity contained within individual sites.
NOAA's Ocean Explorer
NOAA Ocean Explorer is an educational Internet offering for all who wish to learn about, discover, and virtually explore the ocean realm. It provides public access to current information on a series of NOAA scientific and educational explorations and activities in the marine environment. The site provides a platform to follow explorations in near real-time, learn about exploration technologies, observe remote<<Selection in Document>> marine flora and fauna in the colorful multimedia gallery, read about NOAA’s 200-year history of ocean exploration, and discover additional NOAA resources in a virtual library.
 
USS Monitor
National Marine Sanctuary

The Monitor National Marine Sanctuary protects the wreck of the famed Civil War ironclad USS Monitor, best known for its battle with the Confederate ironclad Virginia in Hampton Roads, Va., on March 9, 1862. Since its designation as our nation's first marine sanctuary in 1975, the Monitor has been the subject of intense investigation. Through underwater archaeology and state-of-the-art marine technology, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) strives to preserve this significant part of our past for future generations.
 

U.S. Naval Historical Center
Underwater Archeology Branch

The Naval Historical Center's Underwater Archeology Branch advises the Navy in matters related to historic preservation of U.S. Navy ship and aircraft wrecks. An underwater archaeologist oversees and coordinates this program that deals not only with archaeology and conservation, but many sensitive issues such as war graves, unexploded ordnance, potential use of recovered weapons systems, and complicated legal issues dealing with title and the illegal removal of property from wrecks.
