Ian Zelo has a background in both science and policy. He received a BS
in biology from Cornell University in 1995 and an MMA in Marine Policy
from the University of Washington's School of Marine Affairs in 2000.
Mr. Zelo has worked on an array of marine issues including researching
marine sponges in North Carolina, coastal development and shoreline
protection in Washington State and the management of coastal resources
in Florida.
Currently he works for the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration's Office of Response and Restoration (NOAA/ORR).
He focuses most of his effort on NOAA's Abandoned Vessels Program. The
goals of this project include promoting the issue of abandoned and
derelict vessels at a national level as well as assisting local
governments manage specific incidents and the issue in general at a
smaller scale.
On this mission Ian is providing general support
for the media and outreach operation on board. He is one of two NOAA
representatives on board. |
