Third Day: Mapping the Main House
Wednesday, July 13

Remains of the main house, where the surfmen
lived at Middle Island.
Some of the first things we did today, on day three was map and
photographing the main and boat houses that were collapsed. While doing so
we made our way into the bottom part of both the main and boat houses. We
took close measurements of the pillars holding up the both structures.
Wayne Lusardi and I mapped things we found while under the main house.
Some things we found were bowls, ceramic pieces, and a cork. While we were
moving though out the main house mapping all the measurements and things
we found, we rather enjoyed staying under there with all the bugs to keep
away from the sun beating down. After mapping the first half of the house
we broke for lunch to discuss what else needed to be done for today. We
decided we still had a lot of mapping to do so we went on to finish that.
The second part of the day we found that the surfmen used old shipping
boxes and creates to board up the base with the cement. One pieces that we
found had the name "Middle Island Coast Guard Station" on it. After all
the mapping was finish we ended the day with recording all of the days
findings and putting them into bags and that was all for today's work.
