Eleventh Day: Last Day
Thursday, July 21

Remains of a shipping crate, with the name of the station
stenciled on it.
So we made our way out to Middle Island for the last time today. It’s been a
fun, quick two weeks. Anyways for our last day everyone was going around
mapping the last things that need to be mapped down. Wayne Lusardi and Andy
Weir finally
finished mapping the main and boat house and it turned out really good.
While they were finishing that Stephen Riordan and I mapped the boat launch and the
shield. After that Stephen and I went around the island picking up the flags
that we used to mark out artifacts and buildings that had already fallen.
Once we finished that up we all broke for lunch and was joking around about
some of the injuries that occurred along the way. We were all surprised no one cut
themselves while cropping brush down. When Stephen and Wayne finished
their lunch they both hopped in the lake to cool down. While they were
swimming I started to pack up all the things early so it would be easy to
leave and Andy took some last minute pictures. Then Andy and I went to
finish the cistern and took some final measurements. When we finished up
we all took a last glance at Middle Island before packing the rest of the
stuff and headed to the boat. I had a great time on Middle Island, could
have done without some of my injuries, like my nail through the foot and the
poison ivy that I still have, but in all it was a great experience that I’m
glad I had the chance to do. Met some great people on the way and have lots
of memories but it’ll be good to go home.
