 Max Johnson

Today began with an early morning wakeup for a lecture on underwater measuring. Up early and into the lecture is when we got the news; our dive wasn’t actually until the afternoon. So we finished the lecture and decided we had time for a little practice, which in the long run turned out to be a good thing.

Around 2 p.m. we finally got into the water, splitting up the teams with their own tasks we began working. Two teams swimming and tagging new objects, and the two others on measuring and sketching. After some confusion, and some getting lost, we began to get some work done. Our first dive we were having so much fun me lost track of time, spending little more time down then we wanted. This just making the second dive shorter, we went down again ready to work. The second dive went a little smoother but there are still some kinks we need to work out.

The day over for most, Kenny Keeping and I head out for another dive. With just enough time for some dinner, we turned around for a twilight dive. To our surprise we ended up diving the reef with the winch hole, the winch from the Slobodna was the center piece of the winch hole. The dive had its excitement, however we somehow missed the winch even though we saw just about everything else around. Our last dive was an extra bonus to the end of a good day.
