Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary
The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary was designated in November 1990 to protect the remarkable and unique environment of the Florida Keys. The the sanctuary website, you can learn how the sanctuary fits into the national system of national marine sanctuaries and the role of the sanctuary in resource protection and conservation. Be sure to visit the sanctuary's Shipwreck Trail.

Indiana University's Slobodna Shipwreck Page
Researchers from Indiana University did critical early work in assessing the Slobodna site and helping to determine the wreck's identity. Indiana University continues to monitor the site's biology to better understand how the presence of wrecks like Slobodna form miniature ecosystems within the larger environment of the Florida Keys.
