020 | The Highs & Lows of Creating Transformative Educational Programs like Middle College | with Greg Giauque, Kaelle Daugherty, & Isabella Sarro

This week, we are wrapping up our tour of the Alaska Middle College program with an on-location conversation at the Mat-Su Middle College. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Middle College as well as the pains of creating transformative educational programs across the nation and around the world.

Our guests today are Greg Giauque, who’s a Principal Teacher at Mat-Su Middle College, and Kaelle Daughterty and Isabella Sarro, who are both students currently enrolled at Mat-Su Middle College.

We unbox:

  • Why did the Mat-Su district choose Middle College?
  • What makes Middle College so appealing to Kaelle and Isabella
  • Why some students leave the Middle College program
  • Creating adequate support systems that help students make this transition
  • What Mat-Su Middle College is doing differently than other Middle College programs
  • Advice for students, teachers, and administrators considering a Middle College program
