This one-week program runs from 9am-12pm on July 17th-21st. Open to rising 5th-8th Graders, ages 10-14.

About This Event
During this one-week morning course you will learn the basics of renewable biomass and compost at Mezzacello 21st Century Farm. Topics covered will include:
- Intro to the chemistry and physics of ecological, and sanitization systems.
- Build a portable methane generator and power a steam turbine.
- Build a bioreactor module and deploy it in the reactor tower.
- Design challenges to determine the best ways to use compost and compost products an urban farm.
This week-long 1/2 day program will culminate with an in person demonstration of learning for family and friends, as well as a recording for later viewing.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:
Waterproof and sterilizable shoes will be a requirement for this camp as will gloves, safety glasses and masks. If these are not available, pairs can be provided or 3D printed for a nominal extra fee.
Students will be working with low danger toxins and bacteria in a highly supervised, sterile environment. Sinks and sanitization facilities are readily available.
Experience with plants and compost is a plus, but NOT mandated.
