Join us at The Lawn at Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) for this one-week, all-day, field camp led by entomologists (insect scientists) from The Ohio State University. Students will learn how to catch, preserve and identify the incredible insects that are right in your own backyard and to study their biology! Using a combination of insect collection techniques as well as by visiting different habitat types, we will also determine which types of habitats are contain specific groups of insects, discuss the roles that they play in their environment and test predictions on which habitat type has the greatest insect diversity. We hope that you are as excited as we are to become an official insect scientist!
This one-week program runs from 9am-4pm on July 12th – July 16th and is open to rising 5th-8th Graders, ages 10-14. This program is being held outdoors at CAS, so students will need to be dropped off at and picked up from this location each day.
