This three-week, online course for educators provides an overview of the mindsets and instructional strategies needed to address the cognitive developmental needs of students in Fall 2020. We will work together to build a personal understanding of how to incorporate Design Thinking into YOUR class(es) for all ability levels. Delivered through a combination of podcasts, videos, research & education articles, synchronous virtual discussions, and conceptual homework, this course prepares educators to implement active and learner centered teaching through blended instruction. 

This course covers topics such as: Habits of Mind; Principles of Design; Gap Assessment Strategies; Increasing Student Engagement;  Active Learning, Applied STEM Learning, PBL, Inquiry Learning, and Visual Learning; and Formative/Summative Assessments and Evidence of Learning.

When completing this course, participants will receive:
  • A certificate of completion for 20 hours (2 CEUs).
  • Exposure to an online community of like-minded and innovative educators and learners.
  • Experience with online tools and strategies to engage your students in Active Learning.
  • A completed Active STEM Learning Unit.

The total cost for this course is $450. There will be two – 1 hour live, virtual sessions per week (total of 6 sessions). Once you are registered, you will receive communication from the instructor a week before the start of the course.
