About this Program
During this one-week morning program students will learn the basics of renewable energy and power at Mezzacello 21st Century Farm. Topics covered will include: • Intro to power generation equipment, tools and systems. • Build a portable generator and power a simple tool or charge a mobile phone. • Reverse engineer a solar powered device and document its function and features. • Design challenges to build a LEGO water turbine to power an urban farm. This week-long 1/2 day program will culminate with an in person demonstration of learning for family and friends, as well as a recording for later viewing. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: Waterproof and sterilizable shoes will be a requirement for this camp. If these are not available, a pair can be provided for a nominal extra fee. Students will be working with low amperage/low volt electricity in a highly supervised environment. Experience with machines and electricity is a plus, but NOT mandated. You will receive an email a week prior to the start of the program with information regarding location, paperwork, drop off and pick up time, along with the culminating program presentation information. Program sold out? You can register to be on our waitlist. We will notify you if and when a spot opens up!
