Michael O’Sullivan

Ohio Health Foundation | Retired VP & Chief Development Officer

Michael O’Sullivan recently retired as the senior vice president and chief development officer of the Ohio Health Foundation. He represented OhioHealth since October 2007. He previously served at OhioHealth from 1989 to 1997 as director of planned giving and vice president of the Foundation.

Prior to returning to OhioHealth, Mike provided philanthropic consulting services through a company that he co-founded with two partners. He represented organizations in the fields of health care, religion, the environment, and community foundations. He also represented Children’s Hospital where he served as senior vice president of the foundation. Mike began his career in development with the United Way in Columbus and San Diego.


Mike serves as the first vice chair of the Upper Arlington Community Foundation and trustee emeritus of the PAST Foundation. He served ten years on the board of trustees of Huckleberry House including terms as secretary and treasurer. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Upper Arlington, where he served as a director of the club board and the Foundation president. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.


Mike is a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. He was a co-founder of the Central Ohio Planned Giving Council and served as president in 1996-97. He has been a member of the Columbus Estate Planning Group since 1991. A member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) since 1988, he served as president of the central Ohio chapter in 1999. The central Ohio chapter selected him as Fund Raising Executive of the Year in 1998.


Mike holds masters degrees in public administration and social work from The Ohio State University.
