Wes Hall

Battelle | Senior Vice President of Philanthropy & Education

Wes Hall, Senior Vice President of Philanthropy and Education, drives the strategy and vision for Battelle’s efforts to expand STEM learning opportunities nationally to build the workforce of tomorrow. These efforts include investing in STEM learning through corporate philanthropy, expanding collective impact strategies through the state and national networks managed by Battelle Education, and replicating quality school models through the Metro Schools partnership. Wes’ leadership has enabled Battelle to impact over 1 million students in STEM education annually in communities across the US.


Wes previously served as the executive director of STEMx, working to convene and elevate state perspectives in federal STEM policy, and as the director of the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network. In Tennessee, he led a highly successful partnership between Battelle Education and the Tennessee Department of Education designed to amplify quality STEM learning opportunities for students across the state. A native of Southwestern Virginia, he grew up in rural Appalachia and brought a focus to expanding opportunities for students in rural areas of Tennessee. His leadership was integral to establishing multiple STEM platform schools and regional innovation hubs, developing strong industry engagement, and advocating for innovative state policy to expand STEM opportunities.


Wes also serves as president of Battelle Education, a mission-oriented non-profit launched by Battelle for amplifying best practices in STEM education and was honored as a member of Columbus Business First’s 40 Under 40 in 2022.


Wes holds a bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He currently serves on the national advisory board for the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at North Carolina State University, the board of the national STEM Education Coalition, and the boards of trustees of the Metro Schools, PAST Foundation and the YMCA of Central Ohio.
