A STORM is Coming to Columbus … and It’s Landing at PAST Innovation Lab!

Join us in welcoming the STORM Einhoven World Tour 2016 team as it visits Columbus. Riding in on the world’s first electric touring motorcycle, STORM is one team, two wheels, 23 college students and 10-15 industry experts traveling the world during their 80-day international tour. STORM will be sharing their story with over 100 middle and high school students from Central Ohio in addition to educators, community members, and special guests.
Columbus is one of 60 stops in the STORM World Tour and the 7th in the United States. Chosen because Columbus is a nexus for the emerging autonomous electric vehicle market as evidenced by local leaders such as The Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research (CAR). Starting in Seattle, STORM has visited Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Austin, and will be visiting New York. The tour began August 14, 2016 and will return to Einhoven, The Netherlands, November 2, 2016.
Electric transport is the next step to a sustainable future and the STORM team wants to share their innovation and show the true potential of electric transport to the world. (https://www.storm-eindhoven.com/) Each stop focuses on the use of sustainable energy in electric vehicles and its stop here highlights the role of Columbus as a US DOT Smart City.
The PAST Innovation Lab emphasizes career pathways in the emerging e-mobility industry through the integration of progressive education initiatives. PAST invites Columbus to come see the motorcycle during this event as an example of the e-mobility movement.

PAST’s Innovation Lab is an educational R & D prototyping facility, located in Columbus, Ohio. PAST partners with K12 schools, post-secondary institutions, as well as industry and community partners, designing and researching new and innovative programs that deliver rigorous and relevant education. PAST’s immersive student programs include the Hybrid Teaching Model and Learning Labs that blur the line between coursework and workforce development alongside informal bridge programs that accelerate STEM experiences after and out of school. PAST professional development works with administrators and teachers providing effective tools and training for transforming education, bringing transdisciplinary problem-based learning into classrooms. Integrated into all PAST programs is evidence-based research that continuously informs design and prototyping.
For over 16 years, PAST, a non-profit foundation, has been a leader in designing STEM education across the nation, bringing transdisciplinary problem-based learning to educators and experiential programs to students. In 2014, PAST was recognized at CGI America by former President Bill Clinton for their outstanding work, and again in 2015 for their achievements in improving education in rural America. Also in 2015, the PAST Innovation Lab was recognized by the White House Summit on High School Design.
