CORI & Metrobots Sponsor Robotics Scrimmage

Eight Ohio high school robotics teams had a chance to test their robots and their skills in a scrimmage hosted at PAST Innovation Lab on Saturday, February 20, 2015. The Metrobots, the team from Metro Early College High School, and CORI, Central Ohio Robotics Initiative, invited schools to come to PAST to share what they are building and test their robots in a friendly round of competition.  Teams from Dublin, Westerville, Worthington, Mansfield, Marion, Newark and Archibald had the opportunity to run the robots they began building in January.

Working with adult Mentors, students have six weeks to design, build, program, and test their robots to meet the season’s engineering challenge. Once these young inventors build a robot, their teams will participate in one or more of the Regional and District events that measure the effectiveness of each robot, the power of collaboration, and the determination of students. FIRST Stronghold, the FIRST Robotics 2016 Competition game, is a medieval tower defender game. Two alliances of three teams each select defenses to fortify their outer works before competing simultaneously to score points while breaching the opponent’s outer works and capturing the opponent’s tower. Competitions are a fast-paced and very exciting.
