Mentorship Update: #STNA2PCA

Mentorship Update: #STNA2PCA

Story Time:

This has been a crazy year! A year after the completion of the pilot #STNA2PCA program PAST Foundation ran in partnership with Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio, OSU CCC James and Wexner Medical Center, CCS Adult Resources Center, and CCS Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center. we checked back in on the ladies in the pilot. Three of the seven pilot ladies in the program are celebrating a year of employment with the OSU CCC James. Two of the ladies had to drop out when all the Day Cares closed due to #COVID19. I am looking forward to more updates from updates from the young women I helped to mentor. Here are some of the messages I have received:

Hi Mr. Jim! I just wanted to let you know I am celebrating my one year anniversary at OSU. Thanks! Taneesia

Hey, Mr. Jim. Just touching base! I had to resign my OSU position when the Day Cares shut down. I am planning on going back to school in the spring. I am still debating between teaching and family counseling (not social work) Thank you, Jim — I appreciate your genuine belief in me. Davinique

Hello Jim happy New Year to you as well!! Thank you so much I appreciate it. Hope all is well with you!Demetria Demetria

I’m doing great! I do still work at OSU and it’s been great. I don’t think I need anything at the moment, but now that I have your number I’ll make sure to hit you up whenever I need you. How’s the PAST Foundation been? Faisa Faisa

The Power of Connection

This is the power of mentorship: connection. It brings me great pleasure that my passion to serve really helps others succeed. This is why I do what I do. I appreciate our partners in this, and the countless others that stepped in and helped make this happen. What will you do in 2021 to change the world for the better? I know what I will be doing: Linking Learning To Life through Applied STEM, honest connection and Mentorship. It’s what the world needs more of right now.

The two best things about this program for me are that this was so easy to do, and that all seven of the candidates found employment opportunities using their new credentials. That is how we change the world.
