PAST is Building Math Literacy and Creativity with Video Games in the Classroom

This summer the PAST Foundation will present Minecraft Mathematics as a summer enrichment program for 4th and 5th graders held at Wickliffe Progressive School in Upper Arlington. Students in the program will be improving their math skills while playing a video game that fosters creativity, collaboration and problem solving.

In this summer program, students will spend a week exploring various mathematical concepts. Minecraft will be used to expand their math and literacy proficiency. Students will develop a sense of how mathematical concepts are interrelated through game-play. They will collaborate to design and produce structures within the game and use mathematics to analyze their creations.

Also offered, a companion weekend workshop designed for teacher professional development which models using video games like Minecraft to teach students in any content area.
