Dr. Sarah E. Holland is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), with more than 20 years of experience in history, anthropology, cultural heritage management, and terrestrial and maritime archaeology roles in the United States and England. Many of these roles have included publishing and editorial positions, working with clients, authors, and reviewers at an international scale. During her career, she has worked in consultation with multiple State Historic Preservation Offices, as well as numerous Federal agencies in the United States, such as the Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and in England, with organizations such as English Heritage. 

Dr. Holland is currently serving her second term as an elected member of the Advisory Council on Underwater Archaeology (ACUA), which serves as an international governing body on issues relating to submerged cultural resources management. In this capacity, she works closely with several committees both within the ACUA and in the wider Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA), including the SHA co-publications committee, the ACUA mentoring committee (currently serving as committee chair), and the ACUA diversity and equity committee (currently serving as committee chair). 

In addition to her consulting work and her ongoing work with the SHA and ACUA, Dr. Holland is also the technical editor and designer of the newsletter, Anchor Watch, for the Historical Naval Ships Association, a professional organization for naval and ship museums around the world. The international membership of this non-profit organization is primarily comprised of naval ship museums and memorials, as well as individuals, businesses, and organizations that promote the overall mission of the organization.

Dr. Holland has a life-long commitment to education, public outreach, and mentoring in a variety of roles within the aforementioned positions. She obtained her PhD and MSc degrees in maritime archaeology from the University of Southampton, Southampton, England, and her BA in history and anthropology from Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, Kentucky.
